O livro explora inovações tecnológicas, desde os avanços de Edison no conhecimento da eletricidade até a criação dos sintetizadores Moog.

Written by Laurent de Wilde and published by Faber, Wizards Of Sound: How Electricity Changed the Course Of Music looks at how science and sound collided to give us much of the music that we love today, exploring everything from Thomas Edison’s advancements in electrical technology to the pioneering synthesisers developed by Robert Moog in the 1960s.

A synopsis by Faber for the book reads: “From the end of the nineteenth century onward, there were no more discoveries to be had in the fields of sound and electronics, only inventions.

The science was settled; it was time for business. Each inventor built on the work of those who came before them, with the aim of making commercial products to patent and sell.

Wizards Of Sound: How Electricity Changed the Course Of Music is set to be published in the UK on 11th February 2027. Pre-order a copy via Faber here.

Earlier this year, a book exploring how sound design has shaped electronic music was published.

A ex‑editora de recursos da DJ Mag, Lauren Martin, também publicou um novo livro sobre a história e o impacto da cena dubstep do UK, intitulado Aftershock, no início de 2026.
