The Avalanches announce first new album in six years, ‘No Bad Memories’

Contributors on the album include Karen O, Jamie xx, Nikki Nair, and Jessy Lanza, among others.

Due out on 16th October, the 31-track release explores the “simultaneously magical and insidious” ways that jingles and advertisements sink into our memories.

They continued: “Revisiting imagery and jingles from childhood and realizing how profoundly they have stuck. Taking these sound sources from within the heart of this kinda corporate framework and flipping the fragments into our own kind of joyous pop music.

eventually we arrived at this world of ‘No Bad Memories’.”.

The group have dropped a new single to coincide with the announcement, ‘Can’t Get Over Losing You’, which features Louisiana artist Portraits of Tracy. Check it out below.

Other contributors on the album include Karen O, Jamie xx, Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza, and Prentiss. The LP features the previously released single, ‘Together’, which unites the latter three artists.

The single is accompanied by a video showing a cartoon floppy disc and iPad walking together.

This is the first new material from the Avalanches since their critically acclaimed third LP, ‘We Will Always Love You’, released in 2020.

Last year, The Avalanches were among the artists involved in a new art project to send music to the Moon, contributing their track ‘We Will Always Love You (feat.

Blood Orange)’ as part of the Picadilly Un:Plugged installation.
